I don't freeze it, only put it in the fridge. I have developed a routine that I find most practical, after getting a non-stick baking mould and a tupperware big enough for the slab.
1. Make the gelatin slab (about an inch thick) in the mould and keep it in the lower part of the fridge in the plastic box.
2. Take it out to print and clean it when finished, with wipes.
3. Put the slab in the mould with the rough unused side down and into the regular (not microwave) oven at 350F for about 15 minutes, until it gets liquid again. This I do after each printing session. Clean the surface of bubbles, and after settling and cool again, in the box until the next session.
It only gets a little less after each time. Yesterday I added another batch to it for the first time, to replenish the thickness. It doesn't break or anything strange, except perhaps a little more bubbly and dirty, but works fine. I am very satisfied with this.kehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13095762648333659909noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-202759699185879944.post-18288701515669850212013-05-15T12:07:10.909-04:002013-05-15T12:07:10.909-04:00They look so cute! And because I do keep the plates as long as I can, I cover the plate so the edges do not dry out. That is what I did, thinking I was protecting the surface while in the fridge. Might be a fun way to create patterns for different backgrounds though. They leave some marks but doesn't bother me. Very cool. However, I'll remember to make sure the plastic is really flat next time. Also discovered using less paint to build on is better. Having lots of fun and getting the hang of it.
Cynthiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16075934675565513807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-202759699185879944.post-40731443319925294772013-04-17T17:57:52.033-04:002013-04-17T17:57:52.033-04:00happy to sharehappy to sharelinda germainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17736580435889227622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-202759699185879944.post-62097814962837807192013-04-16T04:32:22.004-04:002013-04-16T04:32:22.004-04:00Thanks for the info! Thanks for the info!Sue Marrazzohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06119033602079882097noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-202759699185879944.post-36079844623663657202013-04-13T12:28:44.331-04:002013-04-13T12:28:44.331-04:00Just do it!
